About SWBL
SWBL (Sydney Women's Baseball League) is a community baseball league based in Marrickville. We cater to players of all skill levels and sporting backgrounds -– from experienced baseballers and softballers to newbies, there's a position for everyone on the diamond. We provide training and skills sessions throughout the season.
If you would like to join the league, but don't want to play, you might be interested in being a coach, scorer or umpire.
SWBL is LGBTQ+ inclusive.

League history
Founded in 1995 by Jordan Zea, the Sydney Women's Baseball League (SWBL) proudly celebrates 30 years of baseball competition across metropolitan Sydney in 2025.
From our humble beginnings as a six-team competition to our current nine-team league, we've grown while staying true to the game we love. With dedicated umpires, coaches, and scorers supporting every game, we were even sporting shiny new uniforms by our second year!
Our early games took place at Moore Park, where we shared space with a diverse community of outdoor enthusiasts – cricketers, netballers, tennis players, and even the occasional horse (true story).
Over the decades, our passion for baseball has taken us far beyond our home fields. In the early days in fact, we competed in memorable games, including an intra-state competition in Newcastle and an international in Perth against teams from the US.
At SWBL, we cherish both the sport and our community. Friendship and teamwork remain at the heart of everything we do. Our vibrant community life has featured trophy and award nights, annual pool competitions, bowling nights, family picnics, the legendary Miss SWBL events, and fundraisers for people and causes close to our hearts. We've proudly strutted our Pat Benatar-inspired stuff up Oxford Street for Mardi Gras and continue to create memorable experiences that strengthen our bonds both on and off the field.
Ground location
All games are played on season Sundays at HJ Mahoney Memorial Reserve, 570 Illawarra Rd, Marrickville
We play nice
SWBL provides a safe, fun and harmonious community for all members, cheer squads, families and friends. As such, we consider bullying, harassment and discrimination unacceptable. We take very seriously our duty of care obligations to the SWBL community.
We've instituted a Code of Conduct to help strengthen our community and prevent any misunderstanding or misinterpretations of what's meant by playing nice. We encourage you to give it a read and make sure you're clear about how we do things here at SWBL.
As a league, SWBL recognises that gender isn't binary and welcomes trans, gender diverse, and intersex people as we work to reduce the barriers to participation in sport.
