Sydney Women’s Baseball League is holding an official launch event on the 16th June for the “Gear For All: LGBTQIA+ Inclusivity, Breaking Barriers & Celebrating Diversity On and Off the Diamond” initiative.

The official opening event is scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM between our Sunday games at SWBL's home ground, H.J. Mahoney Memorial Park in Marrickville.

Present and giving speeches will be the Hon Dr Marjorie O’Neill MP, Member for Coogee (representing the Minister of Sport) and Hon Jo Haylen MP, our local member for Summer Hill.

Mark your calendars for this exciting event – more information about the launch will be provided closer to the date.

This initiative is proudly supported by the NSW government.

About the league

Baseball for all

Sydney Women's Baseball League is a community baseball league based in Marrickville. We cater for players of all skill levels and sporting backgrounds - from experienced to newbies, there's a position for everyone on the diamond.

SWBL provides training and skills sessions throughout the season. If you would like to join the league, but don't want to play, you might be interested in being a coach, scorer or umpire.

SWBL is LGBTQ inclusive.

League History

Established in 1995 by Amanda Hill, the Sydney Women's Baseball League Incorporated (the League) is celebrating 29 years of providing a baseball competition for women of metropolitan Sydney.

The baseball competition has been developed from a small group of enthusiasts in an inner city park to a competitive seven-team League to rival that of larger organisations. While the key focus of the League is participation and enjoyment, the League is structured to ensure skilled players are challenged and beginners' skills are developed.

We play nice

SWBL provides a safe, fun and harmonious community for all members, cheer squads, families and friends. As such, we consider bullying, harassment and discrimination unacceptable. We take very seriously our duty of care obligations to the SWBL community.

We've instituted a Code of Conduct to help strengthen our community and prevent any misunderstanding or misinterpretations of what's meant by playing nice. We encourage you to give it a read and make sure you're clear about how we do things here at SWBL.

As a league, SWBL recognises that gender isn't binary and welcomes trans, gender diverse, and intersex people as we work to reduce the barriers to participation in sport.

Ground Location

All games are played on Sundays at Mahoney Memorial Reserve, 570 Illawarra Rd, Marrickville
